Ireland’s leading outdoors magazine
Walking World Ireland magazine is a full colour magazine, published bi-monthly, which covers the whole walking scene in Ireland. It is available on subscription directly from Walking World Ireland, from leading outdoors stores or from newsagents throughout Ireland, north and south
Each issue of Walking World Ireland includes:
- Walking routes from each of the four provinces
- An article on an overseas walk/expedition
- Reviews and tests of walking equipment
- Advice on hillwalking skills - navigation, map reading, etc.
- News from around the country
- Regular competitions for clothing and boots
- Many other interesting features
The magazine’s writers are a Who’s Who of leading Irish outdoors writers:
Michael Fewer, whose many books include The Waymarked Trails of Ireland and the recently published A Walk in Ireland; Kevin Corcoran, who has written successful books on West of Ireland Walks and West Cork and Kerry Walks; David Herman, whose books, particularly those on Wicklow, Connemara and Donegal, are well-known; plus writers of the calibre of Gavin Bate, who is currently planning an ascent of Everest without oxygen this year, plus an expedition to the Antarctic in 2003; Gareth McCormack, superb writer and photographer with extensive experience of walking in Nepal, Australia, Europe and the USA; Helen Fairbairn, one of the new generation of Irish outdoor writers with considerable knowledge of Irish and overseas routes; Keith Collie, an expert on mountain skills; easy walks by Damien Enright and Joss Lynam; historical routes by Daphne Pochin Mould and nature and environmental articles by one of Ireland’s leading environmentalists, Dick Warner.
The photography in WWI is first-class, thanks to the skills of leading photographers Richard Mills, Eoin Clarke, Ron McGarry and Gareth McCormack.
